CHAIRMAN

Bashir Ahmad

Mr Syed Bashir Ahmad (commonly known as Bashir) is a seasoned banker with more than 25 years of experience in Financial Services. Bashir is married with three children and is a keen advocate and supporter of ensuring a sustainable future through charitable causes across the globe, namely in education and healthcare. Over the years, he has held multiple senior management positions with the likes of ABN AMRO, ING and Bank of Singapore in London. Bashir played an instrumental role in creating the Private Banking Division in both ING Bank and Bank of Singapore in London. Bashir took on an entrepreneurial approach and founded Halkin Investments Holdings Limited in 2010 and acts as a CEO to date. Bashir has been involved in the financial structuring of large real estate transaction throughout his career. He is a strong believer in real estate and is convinced it is an asset class that can provide risk-adjusted return backed by tangible assets.

CEO & FOUNDING PARTNER

Simon Marshall

Over 20 years’ experience managing at the very highest executive level. 2007-2017 CEO of one of the largest retailers in the middle east – Fawaz A Alhokair & Co (SJSC) – a company listed on the Saudi Arabian stock exchange. Through the 10 years Simon was managing the business – they grew from 400 to over 3000+ stores and from one country to 16 in the same period. The business value grew from $300m to over $16bn throughout this period. The construction of each of these 2000 stores was undertaken within the fashion business, so managing multiple concurrent projects on time and budget was a fundamental part of the role, often there were multiple stores opening on the same day – sometimes as many as 60 all opening at once. During this time, Simon was also a member of the board of a sister company, Arabian Centres, which has become the largest mall builder and operator in Saudi Arabia, managing more than 5,000,000 f2 of retail space across Saudi, Egypt and Italy. During this period, Simon, along with Nicholas Eaton, founded Marshall Eaton Developments Ltd as a development business focussing on developing high quality residential property in Surrey and Hampshire. The Tannery in Godalming was a high-end redevelopment of a former o ce building into 23 luxury Manhattan-style apartments. The achieved GDV was over 600/f2, eclipsing achieved values in similar local developments by some 25%. Prior to 2007, Simon was involved with various large national and international businesses in executive-level operations and sales management roles.

Gerry Waters

A former Riyadh Rugby 7’s Hooker and with over 35 years’ experience across retail and construction, Gerry has been involved with the construction of hundreds of stores throughout his career, from small boutique fit-outs to extremely large and iconic stores such as IKEA in Croydon. Gerry has done this in the UK, but also in more than 10 international locations in Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and the United States. Having directly managed the construction of 4 IKEA stores, Gerry is well-versed in the complexity of large-scale builds, each store being akin to a major development in its own right, with its own infrastructure, planning, regulatory and environmental challenges. Gerry has also been a senior executive throughout his career, having held C-level operations roles in several international markets, as well as being CEO of Fawaz A. Alhokair until 2009. Gerry has joined the Marshall Eaton group as COO and will be directly responsible for the on-site delivery of the development. Working closely with the design team and the construction director to deliver the correct product at the correct budget.

Ben Morton-Hunte

Mark Rodol

Mark heads up the company’s London & Hertfordshire division. He has 30 year’s experience of property development together with branding. marketing and entrepreneurial skills. With various CEO roles and with a background in both residential and commercial property, Mark is best placed to pioneer the company’s expansion as it moves across the Homes Counties and in to more urban locations.

Morgan Mead

Across his career, Morgan has worked in the financial service, retail, and construction industries. Within these roles, he has worked in a number of disciplines including project management, finance, legal and technology. Over the last 12 years, Morgan has worked closely with senior executive teams helping support with management information and insight, as well as providing risk management and mitigation to the board. Morgan has been involved with the portfolio project management of a variety of projects including the construction and fitout of hundreds of retail stores, several company acquisitions, large-scale process change and technical infrastructure. Morgan joined the Marshall Eaton team in the very early stages, helping to establish the basic processes that enabled the business to grow at the speed it has whilst providing underlying risk management.

Maritz Naude

In the next phase of ME Holdings’ strong growth and rapid expansion, Maritz is the driving force to ensure financial sustainability, commercial control, best practice and system improvements in the Group. The experience he attained over the past twenty years in the construction and property industry in invaluable to instil governance across the Group to optimise profitability and cashflow. In addition to his senior executive experience around business and finance operations, Maritz has broad experience in support functions including HR strategy, IT strategy and enterprise risk management. Prior to joining ME Holdings, Maritz’s achievements include: - Leading a team as a Financial Controller in growing a 60M turnover company to a 500M turnover Group through an acquisition strategy, - Obtaining European Working Capital Winners Award for the best working capital management across a EUR 5.1Billion Group whilst employed as a divisional/regional Finance Director, - Maritz also successfully managed a UK division through a distressed period when the UK subsidiary divested from a European Parent upon the Parent’s collapse. Maritz is a qualified Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and in his free time he likes to spend time with his family, improving his swing on the golf course or building mental strength in a CrossFit workout.

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Wesley Naude

Wesley has worked in construction finance throughout his career. A fully qualified chartered accountant, having graduated from SAICA. Wesley started his career in the mining industry, working as a graduate he worked within all the major finance functions within BHP Billiton. He joined Bombardier in South Africa in 2012 where he started working in large-scale infrastructure projects; after 2.5 year on a $750m+ project, Wesley moved to the middle east, taking on a regional role as head of project controlling for ME & Africa; the portfolio of projects was over $1bn under his control. During the time in Bombardier, Wesley was always part of the project core teams for the major projects in the region, which were responsible for: project schedule management, risk control, project cost control, procurement and change management.

CORPORATE FINANCE DIRECTOR

Nadim Khan

As Corporate Finance Director, Nadim brings almost 30 years of investment experience to ME having worked in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Dubai with global Investment Banks of Bank of America, Credit Suisse, Societe General and Coutts. He has managed family offices in KSA and UAE and executed deals for private funds and family offices in Argentina, China, Japan and Turkey. Entrepreneurial experience exists through his management and investment in one of South Asia’s largest apparel brands and helping re-brand one of China’s largest value retail stores for overseas expansion. Together with his diverse international experience and expertise in financial structuring, Nadim is perfectly placed to lead the group’s funding strategy.

SENIOR FINANCE EXECUTIVE

Ayyaz Khan

A graduate of Brunel University, Ayyaz is responsible for the financial management and oversight of ME Developments. He is also an experienced Special Projects Director having operated in that role for one of the world’s largest retail groups. His analytical, business planning and negotiating skills have become an invaluable aspect of the Companies success.
